4 Ways To Improve Your Relationship And Keep It Exciting

4 Ways To Improve Your Relationship And Keep It Exciting

Ashley Saadon  | 2 years ago
In films, you often see couples dancing around the kitchen at three in the morning while romantic music plays in the background. Love is depicted in many ways, from cuddling on Saturday mornings to play fighting while cooking dinner. Love isn't easy, but no one said it should be. We came up with a few ways to keep your relationship exciting and full of love.

1. Don’t Rely Solely On Your Partner For The Success Of Your Relationship

Sometimes in relationships, people don't know how to handle being another person's partner. They think it's all fun and games, which couldn't be farther from the truth. What they don't understand is that you have to work hard for the relationship to succeed. A partnership is a two-way street, and you also must learn how to navigate this new phase in your life. When miscommunications arise, you might find yourself blaming your partner right away. Maybe it's true that your partner didn't do their part correctly. However, they shouldn't be the only one responsible. Learn to take the blame when you know that you're in the wrong.

2. Be Mindful Of What You Bring To The Table

You can't be in a relationship and expect the other person to give you everything when you aren't doing the same in return. Think about what you can bring to the table. Are you the charming one? The funny one? The intelligent one? You have to work on yourself, too, if you want a successful relationship. Again, partnerships are a two-way street. You can't expect your loving partner to stay when you cannot give them the love that they deserve. Explore new hobbies, experience new things, find what you can and cannot tolerate, and find out what you can and cannot give. Understand that you cannot be the half of a whole when you're not a complete half yourself.

3. Understand Boundaries

One thing people don't tell you about relationships is that a considerable part of it is merely compromising with your partner. If you want to have a successful relationship, you have to learn how to compromise. Remember, what's comfortable for you may not be comfortable for your partner. Just because the two of you are in a relationship does not mean that your partner's boundaries should automatically adjust to match yours. Take note; you don't necessarily have to give up the things you enjoy just because your partner doesn't want you to do them. However, would you also like it if your partner did something you're not comfortable with? You are two different individuals with different beliefs. If you're willing to make the relationship work, then both of you should be willing to compromise.

4. Remember The Little Things

Love can sometimes be clouded by anger and hatred. When things get tough in your relationship, it's important to remember the little things that made you fall in love. Look back at your first few pictures as a couple and talk about how both of you felt at that moment. Little things like that can easily make you remember the love you feel for your partner, despite all the negativities going on. Relationships can be complicated, but they are worth it when there is love between two people. Be mindful of the little things because sometimes, these are the ones that mean the most.
