Thirty, Flirty, And Thriving In Love: 6 Must-Know Things When It Comes To Dating At The Age Of 30

Thirty, Flirty, And Thriving In Love: 6 Must-Know Things When It Comes To Dating At The Age Of 30

When you are fresh out of college, and in your 20s, one of the first things you think is to immediately find a job to pay for an apartment or pay your college debt. You eventually get so invested in building a career that you somehow forget about your love life. When you have somehow established your financials, you realize that you are missing out on the wonders of being in a romantic relationship. Next thing you know, you are in your 30s, and dating is confusing and very much different than when you were in your teens. You are now back out in the playing field and don't know what to do anymore. Here are our helpful tips to get you through dating in your 30s.

1. Never Assume Unless Told Otherwise

When you are dating in your 30s, you should already know that communication is the key. The most important thing is to never jump to conclusions. If you want to know something, just ask. If they tell you the truth, that’s great! If they lied, and you didn’t realize at first, then it’s not your fault for believing them since you asked an honest question. You could even end up talking about things in a more mature way, which is just right at your age. If they show otherwise, then they probably are not the right one for you.

2. Don’t Lose Your “Me” Time

As much as you want intimacy, we hope that by the age of 30, the clingy attitude does not work anymore. You might find such an attribute even to be annoying and needy. When you reach this age and find someone still too dependent, then this could lead you to a toxic relationship that is not worth your time. You should know by now that it is okay to enjoy your space.

3. The Firsts Are Very Important

We are saying this because the first time you experience something together, it is special, and you will remember it for the rest of the relationship. You're in your 30s now, and you know what you like. If you didn't like how they talked to the waiter on your first date, expect them to speak to your server the same way each time. You can't change them anymore. It's either you leave, or you live with a trait that you don't like.

4. Looks Are Not Everything

If you see couples walking hand-in-hand and notice that they don't match physically, yet they look so content and happy, it's because the "looks department" isn't on the top of the list anymore. When you are dating in your 30s, you might be thinking of settling down soon; you should surely want to be with someone that will always make you happy. A person might be pretty to look at, but if there is no substance, the relationship won't be everlasting.

5. It’s Okay To Not Know What You Really Want

Yes, you can still be confused about what you want in the long-run since you did spend most of your 20s building a career. This is why it's essential to have good communication with your potential partner. Maybe they can help you figure out what you want for the rest of your life.

6. Always Keep In Mind What’s Important To You

While your partner can help you decide what your future may look like, you already know the things that make you truly happy. If your partner disagrees without a valid reason, don’t ever allow them to keep you away from the things you treasure the most. If you want, you can maturely settle things and find ways to compromise equally.
